Submissions, or: I Was No Longer Your Dominant
The Haute Magie release catalogue is a very family-oriented one. Thus, the majority of releases we put out will be ones from artists we've hand-chosen. Our roster is more than 50% homegrown. This being said, we do still love to hear & see what others are creating, and will never be ones to miss out on hearing our next favourite album or book. We now accept digital submissions.
Regardless of the way you submit, please note that we may not respond to you instantly, but you will always eventually receive a response. It may take us three months, but it's most likely because we've been poring over your words or enveloping our heads in your sounds day in and night out. We indulge in our releases probably more than anyone, including the artists themselves.
Either way, please also include a little information about yourself, your project, your favourite recipe. Anything.
Though it is not enforceable (unless, perhaps, the Ludovico treatment is applied), it is highly suggested that one reads all parts of the manifesto, as well as the short blurb on the information page before submitting any work, to acquire a feel for what Haute Magie is all about. We are not an audio or literary chop shop, and therefore, we do not want the scraps of the independent art world. Our biggest pull is someone who is highly devoted and dedicated to their craft.
We are currently primarily looking for new submissions in the written word field. Magazines, novel/las, poetry collections, plays, and so on.
Physical Submissions
Physical submissions of past work, new material, or some other artefact of your abilities can be posted to
Haute Magie
5212 Downs Dr. #A
Austin TX 78721
Please ensure that the return address is clearly written on the envelope or in a note, and that you include your e-mail address and / or phone number. We love art objects. Handmade packaging, handwritten/typed letters, interesting formats, and so on.
Electronic Submissions
Digital submissions can be e-mailed to
relics @ hautemagie.com
We greatly prefer downloadable MP3s (for audio) and PDFs (for writing), though the work must be available in a lossless format (WAV, FLAC) or an editable word-processing document for a final master submission. Please do not send massive e-mail attachments.
It's In The Cards
If you've read through enough of this page and others, and can still get behind what Haute Magie is about, see our favourite hand of cards for a healthy dose of what we're looking to work with.
Magic Isn't For Everyone
I realise that this may not be important to most people, because 'art is art, who cares what it sounds / looks / etc. like', but if you honestly think that all sounds, words, or images are pure, then you need to clean your ears out. With fire? Fire Of The Mind... See our black(magic)list to read what we're not looking for.
